Our top metallic natural make-up picks
GOLD: Gold is great for all skin tones, use it on the eyes to brighten and on the skin to highlight and add luminosity.
On eyes, try rms beauty’s Solar Cream Eye Polish for a warm golden shimmer or ILIA Beauty Sway Illuminate & Bronze Multi-Stick for more of a brazen bronze. ILIA Silken Eye Shadow In Between Days – a flattering hue of burn gold with subtle glint – swipe on thin or on your entire lid to go all out.
On nails, go big or go home! We love Intensae Nail Lacquer ‘Muse’ for multi-dimensional gold sparkles – add it as a top coat to any colours for a striking contrast or layer three coats for a total golden look. For a more traditional metallic finish, try Kure Bazaar ‘Or Bronze’ – a metallic gold hue with a bronze tint.
SILVER: Use silver to create a dramatic eye for the party season!
On eyes, we love the ILIA Silken Eye Shadow Stick in ‘You Spin Me Around’ which glides on effortlessly for a velvety wash of metallic colour and is easy to apply in stick format. rms beauty’s Lunar Cream Eye Shadow is a champagne, frosted pearl shimmer which looks delicate but can also be layered on. Inside the eyes, also try ILIA’s Polka Dots & Moonbeams Illuminator to illuminate. Vapour Mesmerize Eye Shimmer Treatment comes in a variety of gorgeous, long-wear metallic hues. We’re fans of Cinder – a smokey, shimmery pink for any party look. For powder shadow fans, these do a killer smokey eye: the Kjaer Weis Eye Shadow in Onyx – a dark, dramatic black with subtle, silver shimmer; and the Studio 78 Paris Loose Powder Eyeshadow in Forest Run which is perfect to add shimmer to any eye.
Louise Dartford’s organic make-up tips for applying them
GOLD – How to Use: Use fingers to apply to the eyelid (less is more), take it up onto the brow bone then follow down in a C shape along the cheekbones. Apply to the inner corners of the eyes to brighten further – this is great for tired eyes. Add a touch to your Cupid’s bow and lower lip to make lips appear fuller.
SILVER – How to Use: With a brush ‘press’ it all over the lid for a soft smokey eye. Work it with a black eye pencil for a smouldering look. Smudge the pencil into the lashes all around the eye and then apply your chosen silver over the top.
