CONTENT RITUAL: Cleaning Up Our Acts by Jane Kersel

Posted in Content Beauty

As part of our Cleanse Month, we’ve already called on our in-house experts to share their tips to support your Spring detox for body. But what about the mind?

In our wellbeing #ContentRitual for the month, wellbeing expert Jane Kersel argues that it’s also the perfect time for a mental ‘cleanse’ and surrendering all we “think” we know, inspired by May 2015’s new moon and planetary alignments. Over to Jane….

“Sensuous power is power like no other – it comes from within – not from the clinical ice palace of the mind and logic, but from the depths of the heart and soul – a mother’s love is a power like nothing else: it can move mountains; is stronger than any man-made weapon; it can melt and heal the hearts of men and divided nations” ~ Jane Kersel

May is the perfect time to look to cleanse: to clean up our acts, to let go of the strategies we all deploy that kid us into thinking that things are beyond our control like:”It’s someone else’s fault” or “It’s someone else’s responsibility”. It’s a time to ‘”fess up to ourselves” and end any victim or martyrdom lead roles we may have been acting out in the hope of some Oscar nomination. We really do have the reins firmly and gracefully in our own hands and no one else can steer our chariots but ourselves. It’s a time to go inwards, to put down our clever swords of words that have us needing to be right, winning, competing and battling our way through our days and nights – the fight is over.

The planets are encouraging us and aligning to help us in this, but not so much from a purge mentality which is so often these days taken to mean “Cleanse” – as if the very word suggests there is something dirty, toxic, bad to be rid of within us. Instead, we have a new moon in Taurus on May 17th/18th and new moons are new beginnings, a time to go inwards and downwards, out of the head and into the subconscious world of dreams, mysticism, the womb space, earth and the inner garden where new seeds can be planted. We also have Mercury in retrograde in the air sign of Gemini for the next three weeks, so it’s a time of approaching, understanding, exploring new ways of being in the world: out with the old, in with the space and learning to be comfortable to sit for a while in the void and not panic!

Taurus is a sensitive, sensuous sign that looks for beauty in everything. Its ruler is Venus (think of Aphrodite) Botticelli’s beautiful depiction of Venus rising out of the sea. She is the embodiment of the Goddess of Beauty and the Divine Feminine energy: she relishes in her juice, is oblivious to the changing of her outer form because she captivates and charms from places deep within her that are wild, free, unfettered by minds or men. She is liberated like the wind.

“She is free in her wildness, she is a wanderess, a drop of free water. She knows nothing of borders and cares nothing for rules or customs. ‘Time’ for her isn’t something to fight against. Her life flows clean, with passion, like fresh water.” ~ Roman Payne

The May Ritual this month is a cleanse that is less about an active doing and more of a softening and releasing the grip of the male energetic in us all which is parental, strict, mind and intellect-led, linear-time based, and to return to the feminine energetic that is sensuous, loving, soft, psychic and non-time based. It’s beyond the pragmatic: “Where I am now/ today” state, to the non-pragmatic, other worldly dream-like state of “all that I am or could be becoming” and beyond any goal-setting which is limited, again, by how far our minds can stretch. Instead, feel into the feeling. How do you want to feel as you go about your life? Happy? Joyous? Expanded? Fearless? Unconditionally loving? States of pure being that fly high above the story and dramas that unfold. This is a month to learn to surf, to ride the wave of life, to not take things so personally so that whatever comes at you, you lean into it and move through it with grace and ease, because you’re focused on the state of being and not the egoic goal of outcomes and strategies to stay safe.

Here you will find a little gift from me: a beautiful programme that developed from my own life and teachings – something to commit to and to follow for the entire month entitled “Sensuous Power”. Already you may have a part of you saying “Oh my, homework? Really?” So instead, embrace that fearful part of you, know it as a state of mind that’s tired of thinking it’s way through life and instead it’s time to turn to feeling your way through life.

Anais Nin encapsulated this time of being well in her words: “…….I am……a person……who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger than reason. I am so thirsty for the marvellous that only the marvellous has power over me. Anything I cannot transform into something marvellous, I let go of. Reality doesn’t impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, on way or another. No more walls”. Amen to that, juicy people! 😉 “
