Non-Toxic Nail Polish Guide

Natural Nail Polish for Summer
Posted in Content Beauty

From bold brights to subtle hues, we’ve selected our must-have non-toxic nail polish that makes it easy to say goodbye to conventional varnishes. Plus, we’ve got you covered when it comes to prepping and polishing toes before pulling out heels or open-toe sandals.

Read on for our favourite ways to ensure both your hands and feet are in tip-top condition for your next lick of paint.

Hand and Feet Polish Prep

For Feet

Begin by soaking feet in a warm bath with a handful Verdant Alchemy Detox Bath Salts to soften rough skin and soothe aches.

Next, exfoliate using the Isla Apothecary Lemongrass and Rosemary Foot Scrub and Hydrea Wooden Foot File concentrating on heels and toes to smooth out any rough surfaces. Next, apply a natural cuticle treatment such as the Kure Bazaar Organic Cuticle Oil to nourish nails and soften hard cuticles.

Upgrade your at-home pedicure by massaging the Weleda Foot Balm onto the entire foot and shin. This will intensely moisturise, hydrating skin and nails before your non-toxic nail polish application.

For Hands and Nails

After your feet are primped and prepped for polish, prime your fingernails with the Kure Bazaar Nail Balm or Fresh Therapies Organic Nail Elixir. Follow with Amala’s Rejuvenating Hand Cream to provide lasting moisture to the fingernails and skin. Next, get your desired nail shape with an AEOS Crystal Nail File, which seals the nail tip as you file. This helps water, sand or debris from seeping into the nail tip.

To remove the nail polish (or any excess oil on the nail plate), we have two natural and biodegradable favourites. Fresh Therapies Natural Nail Polish Remover is scented with a hint of fresh lime. Or try the Kure Bazaar Rose Nail Polish Remover, which has a base of Musk Rose Oil and Rose Water for healthy nails. Both are acetone free and ethyl-acetate free… Better for nails, health and environment! Now you are ready for a coat of non-toxic nail polish.
